YES! Let”s teach our kids about mindful eating when they are young. When they understand this concept at an early age, there will not be the need to undo bad eating habits when they get older. One of my favorite tips from this article is “Get your child involved in food selection and meal preparation”. If children help pick out the food from a garden or in the grocery store, they begin to feel as if they had a part in the decision making process. Then if they actually help prepare the meal….they will be engaged and often times more willing to try what is on their plate. The over-riding message around teaching kids mindful eating is “don”t take the pleasure out of food”. Adults often feel pressure to get kids to eat the “right” foods.
